Supervises Does not supervise but directs the work of the Truck Helper
General Responsibilities
It is the responsibility of the Class B truck driver to deliver product between stores, warehouse and plant. The driver and helper also load and unload the truck while demonstrating the agency’s core values of Success, Collaboration, People and Productivity.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Functions
- Make pick-ups and deliveries to stores in a safe and timely manner
- Operate vehicle according to various municipal requires, e.g. speed limits, seasonal loads
- Ensure that all loads are secure and all product is delivered without damage
- Load and unload trucks safely with pallet jacks and forklift
- Inspect truck daily and maintain daily inspection record that is accurate and legible; report any need for repairs promptly and in writing
- Perform other duties assigned by Commercial Services Supervisor or designee
- pick up and take loads to the warehouses, keep warehouses organized.
- Might be overtime as needed to help with store runs
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Possession of a Class B Commercial Driver License with Air Brake Endorsement
Ability to read, write and express ideas in English
Ability to perform mathematical functions as needed: addition, subtraction, multiplication
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift 50 pounds repeatedly, occasionally lift up to 75 pound; frequent reaching, bending, twisting, standing, stooping; ability to see with corrective lenses, ability to hear; sitting and operating vehicle for extended periods
Other
Must maintain qualifications for Class B DOT license, including meeting DOT physical requirements and random drug screens
Must be able to work five days per week, eight hours per day, occasional weekend call-in
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and theft-related background check.
